Posted 2/11/13 (Mon)

The first half was a slow paced affair at least as far as scoring was concerned. The teams barely made it to double digits by half. Stanley County led, 6-5, at the quarter stop. They got the first six points of the contest. M-P didn't score until 6:30 into the game. Then they got a bucket and a trey.
M-P opened the second quarter with a trey and grabbed the lead. That was the only scoring until the 3:08 mark when the Buffs got a free throw. M-P answered with a free throw. In the final 2:00, both teams put down three free shots leaving the Tigers up, 12-10, at the half.
The scoring pace quickened in the third quarter as did the Buffs’ pressure. Two free shots by the Buffs tied the game and after a single free shot by M-P a trey gave the Buffs the lead, 15-13. M-P came back with a free shot and then the teams exchanged baskets. Another trey by the Buffs spread their lead to four. M-P closed within one only to have the Buffs pop back out by four, 24-20. The Tigers got the last two buckets of the quarter to knot the game up at, 24-24.
The only scoring in the first three minutes of the fourth quarter was a single bucket by the Tigers and two free shots by the Buffs. In mid quarter action, the Buffs got three from the charity stripe. The Tigers got three from the line and a two and trey from the field to go up, 34-29. Stanley County came right back with two more from the line and a trey to tie the game at, 34-34. The Buffs retook the lead with a put back. M-P got a free shot at :45 to get within one. With :35 to go, M-P put the Buffs on the line and they cashed in two to go up, 38-35. M-P came back with a bucket and then put the Buffs back on the line. They sank two to ice the win, 40-37.
