A benefit for the family of Doug Peterson is planned for Saturday, Feb. 16.
A Spaghetti Supper, along with a silent auction and live auction, will be held at the Pollock School and Community Center. The Spaghetti Supper will run from 5-7 p.m. The silent auction for smaller items will be held from 4-6:30 p.m. A live auction will follow immediately from 6:30-9 p.m.
Following the events at the Pollock School and Community Center, there will be live music at The Sandbar from 9 p.m.-1 a.m. The live music will feature King Louie and the 57 Chevy Band from Minnesota.
There will be a free will donation for the Spaghetti Supper and the live music at The Sandbar. The Campbell-McPherson Chapter of Thrivent Financial will provide matching funds for the event.
Doug died Dec. 20, 2012, at the age of 39. He is survived by his wife, Lyndell, and two daughters, Bailey and Mary Margaret.
Sixty percent of the money raised at the benefit will be used by the family for ongoing expenses and other needs. The other 40 percent will be set aside in a separate fund for Bailey and Mary Margaret.
Anyone who would like to donate items for the auctions or assist in any other way should contact benefit organizers Brent Odde at (605) 848-1967, Allen Reierson at (605) 850-9075 or Steve Wetherbee at (701) 640-1811.
They would appreciate it if donated items could be brought to the Community Center by 4 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 15. Members of the Pollock Men’s Club will be setting up for the benefit and auction that evening. However, items will be accepted up until the time of the auctions on Saturday.
For those who would like to donate, but cannot be present for the benefit on Feb. 16, a fund has been established at the Pollock Branch of the Campbell County Bank. Donations can be dropped off or mailed to the Peterson Family Benefit, Campbell County Bank, PO Box 667, Pollock, SD 57648.
